De Vita Caesarum

a wity deck of cards, with Emperors, Impresses and their lovers

Suetonius wrote a book, De Vita Caesarum in which he does not hesitate to spread rumors and slander about the Roman emperors and their private lives. The legacy of his book was immense and greatly contributed to creating the stereotype of Roman emperors as bloodthirsty, debauched, decadent, or mad.

It inspired Guillaume to create a deck of card with full of gossip and slander. Each suite tells the love or hate triangles. The cards are stories , full of witty details.

All hannddrawn by Guillaume, he collaborated with an Italian card manufacturer to print and publish this deck of card.

Each suite features three caracters : lovers, impresses, a mother you kill, a revengeful grand mother, a Bythinian lover, or a Queen of Egypt that made two Emperors fall in love with her. Suietnonius would not has dissaprouved.

All the handdrawn details on the Court card are references about the character. Guillaume researched and accumulated stories, he turned into drawings. Mark Anthony is protyed with a Djed Osiris amulet and a grape wrath. He identified as the reincarnation of Diyonisos and Osiris. A giant snake with a hear, as he killed himself for love

With each deck of cards comes a little leaflet, handwritten by Guillaume giving you all the hidden messages.
