Le Bosquet d’Arachnée

a walkable garden of fabrics for the leader in dye sublimation printing

For Equiphotel, the leading international trade show for professionals in the hospitality industry, I was asked to imagine a scenography for a Fabric manufacturer. I love to tell stories, I created a garden of fabrics inspired by Versailles, punctuated by ottomans mimicking ruins. As you walk through the arches, the story unfolds, Ovid’s poem of Arachne and Athena. The tale of a human challenging the goddess Athena into a weaving competition… spoiler alert, Arachne won but was turned into a spider…

The project started with countless sketches experiment with Etoffes printing expertise. My ink and pastel pastels drawings came to life in a larger than life scale, while at the same time keeping their lightness and materiality.

the metamorphis of Arachne into a spider

Each arch tell on part of the stories of Arachne and Athena. Ovid recounts how the talented Arachne challenged Athena to a weaving contest. When Athena could find no flaws in the tapestry Arachne had woven for the contest, the goddess became enraged and Arachne was turned into a spider
