I was invited by Maison Ruinart to visit their vineyards in the heart of Champagne and discover their initiatives in favor of biodiversity. In Taissy, Maison Ruinart plants trees and shrubs to create a natural alliance between fauna and flora in the form of hedges. It is this symbiosis throughout the seasons that I wanted to transcribe on the two labels of the eco-designed “second skin” cases.

Upon returning to my atelier, the idea appeared to me , the links that were woven, vines, in a Japanese universe with a nod to the first collaborations between Ruinart and artists at the beginning of the 20th century. I drew labels in diptych, around the Maison Ruinart pilot project in favor of vitoforestry and biodiversity.

Under the illustrative layer, like an encyclopedic plate, the fauna and flora which inhabit the labels are attested in the vines of Maison Ruinart: lacewing, golden ground beetle, common linnet, …

Like precious miniatures, in the two labels the Ruinart vines intertwinnes with rowan and spindle hedges. The history of the vine begins with spring, for Champagne Brut, and ends with the harvest for the 2009 Vintage. All of which is home to insects and animals.....
